Microbiology Lab
A microbiology laboratory is a laboratory devoted to the culturing, examination, and identification of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, yeasts, etc. The microbiology laboratory has a crucial role in effective infection prevention and control (IPC). The instruments used in the microbiology labs include a bunch of different kinds of instruments required for a lot of different processes conducted within those laboratories.
For boosting the knowledge and confidence among the students in the field of Microbiology, we have microbiology laboratory which covers an area around 22 ft x 10 ft. Laboratory is very well equipped with all required and updated models of instruments. These labs have the capacity to accommodate 25 students at a time. There is also a computer set up for bioinformatics to study storage and usage of genetic information of organisms and therefore to predict the pattern of their evolution. It also gives idea of understanding the basis of diseases or host pathogen interactions so as to design drugs and develop vaccines.
Instruments used in Microbiology Lab:
Analytical Balance, Autoclave, Bunsen burner, Centrifuge, Colony Counter, Deep Freezer, Homogenizer, Hot plate, Hot air oven, Incubator, Laminar Air Flow/ Laminar Hood, Magnetic Stirrer, Microscope, pH Meter, Spectrophotometer, Vortex Mixture, Water Bath, Water Distiller.
Biotechnology Lab
Biotechnology laboratory is one of such hi-tech lab where students are provided hands on practice on latest gadgets and equipments. Biotechnology is an integrated science, a combination of allied sciences and therefore used to have allied effects, it is used to prepare therapeutically and diagnostically important proteins, to manipulate the gene and their expression to improve quality and quantity of the plant and animal products. In this era of biotechnology, students are required to learn the uses of biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, microbes etc. with the application of instruments i.e., technical system to the benefit of mankind.
For advancing the acquaintance and self-confidence among the students in the area of biotechnology, we have biotechnology laboratory which covers an area around 22 ft x 10 ft. Laboratory is very well equipped with all required and updated models of instruments. These labs have the capacity to accommodate 25 students at a time. There is also a computer set up for bioinformatics which is widely applied in the examination of Genomics, Proteomics, 3D structure modelling of Proteins, Image analysis, Drug designing and a lot more.
Instruments used in Biotechnology Lab :
In our lab, we have autoclave, BOD incubator, oven, electrophoretic units, vortex mixer, water-bath, a small distillation plant, laminar air flow chamber, rotator, trans-illuminator, digital balance, stirrer, pipette, centrifuging machine, spectrophotometer, freeze and many more apparatus and equipments for studying sterilization, microbial culture, DNA isolation, plasmid isolation, separation of DNA fragments and their manipulation etc.
Research Lab
Ourresearch laboratory equipped with advanced facilities, a distinguished faculty, and a dynamic research culture which contributes towards a smoother innovation journey, making it an ideal destination for students and researchers interested in pursuing a career in life sciences. We promote our students and staff to conduct the majority of research projects in-house.It places a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research and encourages collaborations between faculty and students across different scientific fields. The institute is committed to cultivating a vibrant research culture and offers numerous resources and support to help students and researchers pursue their research interests.Due to the core interest and innovative idea of faculty members and their team of research/project scholars contribute some new scientific knowledge and deliver new technology towards growth in the latest emerging research field. The output of their work is reflected as scripted in high impact publications, patents and technology transfer. We are trying to march ahead to the next decade with stronger commitment to our R & D goal. The students have been immensely benefited by this training which is reflected in their selection and perusal of higher education in life sciences from prestigious places.
Equipments used in Research Lab :
Laminar airflows, autoclaves, bioreactor, high speed refrigerated centrifuges, sonicator, PCR machines, spectrophotometer, nanodrop, gel electrophoresis units, deep freezers etc.
Plant Tissue Culture Lab
We have aUGC funded Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory unit was established in 2003 with the objective of faculty member’s research and students projects; also for conducting training programs and workshops related to plant tissue culture and phyto-chemistry. The laboratory has been catering to the needs of the students for undertaking hands on training on a set of in vitro techniques, methods and strategies like micropropagation, protoplast, anthers, microspores, ovules and embryos culture that have been used to produce millions of plants and to create new genetic variation in the breeding lines, producing quality and disease free planting material etc. Plant Tissue culture laboratory is equipped with automatic humidity and temperature control with required sterilizing equipments and incubation facility. The laboratories are compliant with the biosafety norms.
Preparation Room
The main laboratories have an adjacent room or a room close by called the preparation room that serves both as an extension of the main lab as well as provides service to it. This is because a laboratory should only contain the minimum amount of equipment, media, chemicals and reagents required for its needs while the rest should be kept in the preparation room. It is an area in the laboratory itself is designated as the preparation work area in which some preparation work is conducted. It is an essential part of teaching and research where most of the preparation work that is required for the conduct of experiments and demonstrations in the main lab is done there. The preparation room also plays an important role in storing a range of media, chemicals, reagents, glasswares, equipments and apparatus which are not in continuous use.
