The Department of Botany was founded in 2017–18. The R. C. Patel Art, Science, and Commerce College's Department of Botany is committed to fostering creative, inquisitive, and application-based learning. The department's main goal is to motivate students to develop their abilities through practice. The department's academic members are highly skilled and knowledgeable, with specializations in genetics, fungi, algae, and angiosperms. The department's staff of knowledgeable faculty members instills in the students a strong culture of practical-based learning. The department has established program outcomes, and all worthwhile projects are carried out to help achieve and fulfill them.

Objectives
- The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in Botany.
- To teach aspects related to anatomy, embryology and ecology of plants, and importance of Biodiversity.
- To explain the structural and functional aspects of plants with respect to the cell organelles, chromosomes and genes, and methods of plant breeding.
- To provide constructive feedback on their progress, individual students will be assessed throughout the year in their project work, participation in seminars.
